US Trichology Institute (USTI) Partners with Leading Hair Loss Medical Center to Deliver Groundbreaking Trichology Training

The historic collaboration brought together students and educators from around the world to discuss and explore cutting-edge hair loss treatments and trichology education.

LATHAM, N.Y. (PRWEB) December 12, 2017 — The US Trichology Institute (USTI®), the world’s largest trichology training provider, has wrapped-up a groundbreaking trichology training event that was delivered in partnership with Columbia University Medical Center; world renowned for hair loss research, led by Angela M. Christiano, PhD.

The historic collaboration, which took place on October 17, 2017 at Columbia University Medical Center in New York City, brought together students and educators from around the world to discuss emerging trichology issues and aspects. Trichology is a paramedical field, which bridges the gap between dermatology and cosmetology, and focuses on the scientific study of hair and scalp disorders.

“Approximately 70-80 percent of all hair loss sufferers ask their Cosmetologist for help, before ever seeing a doctor; yet most are left feeling powerless and often frustrated — and that’s were trichology training comes in,” commented William C. Blatter, Chairman of the USTI, and President of HLCC®, the global leader in hair rejuvenation. “Partnering with Dr. Christiano and her outstanding research team was the ideal way to share knowledge, and create awareness of the cutting-edge technology, tools and treatments available to them. We are grateful to Columbia University Medical Center for hosting such an unprecedented educational event, and look forward to more partnership opportunities in the future.”

“It was a wonderful educational opportunity for our research fellows in the Alopecia Areata Center for
Research Translation to interact directly with a broad range of hair specialists and trichologists, who are often the first to encounter patients with alopecia,” commented Dr. Christiano, who is the Richard and Mildred Rhodebeck Professor of Dermatology and Professor of Genetics & Development, respectively, at Columbia University Medical Center. “It was especially enlightening for us to hear from them about their experiences with patients, not only at the time of diagnosis, but all throughout their hair loss experience — especially when all treatments have failed. Our team was tremendously motivated by the exchange of knowledge and experiences shared during the research day.”

The US Trichology Institute (USTI®) is the largest provider of trichology training in the world, and the only trichology program certified by the American Medical Certification Association. The institute offers four levels of trichology training in more than 20 cities across the U.S. and Caribbean, as well as online. USTI educators combine a collaboration of industry experts including top hair loss researchers, dermatologists, hair transplant surgeons, naturopaths, wellness doctors, trichologists, and ethnic/textured hair experts. “I’m incredibly proud to be a part of this historic collaboration between USTI and the Columbia University research team,” commented Dr. Ayyaz Shah, a USTI Board Member and triple board-certified dermatologist in Orlando, FL. “We look forward to a long and progressive partnership with Dr. Christiano and her colleagues, and are excited to be working with them again next year.”
